Introduction
Kaus Insurance
A completely new direction for a mature and well-established company.
Kaus is a massive insurance company, that for the last 30 years has dedicated all its efforts to the business-to-business side of the insurance industry. To help keep rates low, they offer packages or bundles to help consolidate theirs over 350 different products. With improvements in technology and the companies’ lack of progress, they have seen a decline in business. To remedy that issue they are now turning to the direct consumer approach and will need an App and a new approach to regain their strength in the industry.
The Roles and Responsibilities
This was presented to me as a solo project, and I was given 4 weeks by the client to create a stunning well-designed website to gain the confidence and trust of new clients in need of insurance. At the end of the four weeks I would need to produce all the needed user research, wireframing, usability testing, prototyping, branding, and of course the responsive web designs needed to make this luxury site successful.
The Problem and Solution
While Kaus is a well-established and long-running insurance company, its approach to clients and technology is outdated, and they are having a hard time connecting with new clients and the younger generations. They have abstained from technology and their business is starting to see the effects of that approach.
The solution is to make kaus current in all ways possible, with a new generation of clients, attracted to kaus by building on Kaus's long-standing in the industry with approachable branding, a well-thought-out easy-to-use website, and mobile app.

The branding process started organically with very rough hand sketches. Which led to a more immersive approach in high fidelity renderings in Figma.

The Finishing touches
On final completion of the high fidelity mock-up and prototype, I conducted the usability testing with the five participants that volunteered. The data and input collected from usability testing were very insightful and led to appropriate iterations needed to refine Kaus Insurance to the high standard we sought to create.
The following are a few of the minor iterations,

The Reflection
What’s next?
Now that phase one has successfully been completed, I would like to continue working with the client on the proposed expanded features in phases two and three. Followed by the appropriate user testing and necessary iterations.
What I gained from this project!
While insurance may be a necessary product to most people, the negative stigma and the unapproachable nature makes it hard for people to find confidence in their insurance choices. I found this project to be a fun and rewarding challenge by providing a playful and bearer breaking approach that most people can connect with.
